Paul Gilmer Kirby, age 90, of Warren, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at his home.
He was born July 2, 1920 in Galax, Virginia the son of the late Lloyd and the late Stella Crawford Kirby.
Paul worked and retired from Uniroyal Tire Company in Detroit after 35 years of service. Paul and June were world travelers. Together they went to many places, the most memorable was Russia and China. He was an avid golfer and gardner. He specialized in growing herbs. He grew over 30 different herbs.
Paul and June were longtime members at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church. Paul served three years on the Parish Council and was also a Eucharistic Minister.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, June (nee: Cook); special cousin, Charles (Melita) Boldin; also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Paul is predeceased by his sisters, Bernice Reavis, Edith Nail, Irene Parrish, and Merle Gardner.
Visitation Friday 4:30-9 pm with a 6 pm Scripture Service at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common. In state Saturday 11:00 am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:30 am at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church. Officiating the Funeral Mass will be Rev. Fr. Roman Pasieczny. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township.
