Patricia Armistead Kyle, 76, passed away unexpectedly on May 19, 2025 in Hampton, Virginia.
Tish was the daughter of Lanny Astor Kyle and Penelope Ward Kyle of Galax, Virginia and the granddaughter of Penelope Whitley Ward and Dr. O. W. Ward of Hampton, Virginia, and Sally Kyle and Henry Francis Kyle of Carroll County, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her father, Lanny Astor Kyle, and her cousin, Fairfield Armistead Ward.
Tish is survived by her mother, Penelope Ward Kyle of Galax, Virginia, her sister, Penelope Ward Kyle (Charles Menges) of Richmond, Virginia, her brother, Lanny Astor Kyle, Jr., of Galax, Virginia, her nephew, Kyle Ward Menges of New York City, her nieces, Penelope Whitley Menges of Chesapeake, Virginia and Patricia Lee Menges of New York City, her cousins, Oscar Wilde Ward and Katherine Eleanor Ward of Hampton, Virginia, and her beloved cat, Kooki.
Tish was born on January 17, 1949, and grew up in the City of Galax, nestled in the mountains of southwest Virginia and the home of the annual Old Fiddler's Convention. Every summer, Tish's mother packed up Tish, Penny and Lanny to spend most of the summer with Tish's grandparents and cousins at Buckroe Beach in Hampton. After graduating from Galax High School in 1967, Tish decided to go to sunny Tempe, Arizona to attend Arizona State University. After graduating from ASU, she returned to Virginia and taught in the Hampton school system for many years. After retiring from teaching, she lived in Hampton and Norfolk as well as in Carroll County outside of Galax.
Tish loved warm weather, living on the water, the beach (especially Buckroe Beach), travel and her many dogs and cats, including Kooki.
