Pansy Violet Phillips Hawks age 71 of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday, May 30, 2011 at her home.

Mrs. Hawks was born in Galax, Virginia on November 22, 1939 to Halfred and Alma Sue Hodges Phillips. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Aldean "Dean" Hawks.

She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law Kathy and Jim Taylor of Kingsport, Tennessee; Ann Hawks of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; son and daughter-in-law Ricky Dean and Christina Hawks of Galax, Virginia; grandchildren Justin Haynes; Kieth Hawks; Jessica Hawks and Dylan Hawks; step-grandchildren Isaac Dalton and Steven Thompson; great-grandchild Leland Eithan Jaise Hawks; sisters and brothers-in-law Frances and Earnest Jennings of Glade Valley, North Carolina; Sue and Kenneth Anders; Brenda and Donnie Norman all of Galax, Virginia; brothers and sisters-in-law Herbert and Betty Phillips; Levi Phillips; Donald Phillips. Martin and Nancy Phillips; Larry and Lois Phillips all of Galax, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Coal Creek Community Church with Pastor Gary Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Coal Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 o'clock until service time at the church.
