Ovelia Hanks' Obituary
Ovelia Hanks, 84, of Woodlawn passed away Thursday night December 13, 2007, at the Grayson Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Independence.
She was born August 6, 1923 in Carroll County to John & Bertha Lawson Lineberry. She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Burnett of Woodlawn and a son Nelson Hanks of Galax. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Becky Terry, Debbie Blevins, Glenn Burnett, Jr., Cody Hanks and Michael Hanks; two step grandchildren Kesha Newman and Patrick Wyatt. Five great Grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren survive along with several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hanks was preceded in death by her husband Earnest Hanks and a great granddaughter Emma Terry.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7 until 9 o'clock at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held Sunday at 3:00 PM with the Rev. John Briggs and Rev. John Canning officiating. Burial will follow in the Pickett Cemetery.
