Otis Lee Stuart age 82 of Galax, Virginia passed away Friday, February 9, 2024 in the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina.
He was born on May 4, 1941, in Wythe County, Virginia, to George and Edith Stuart. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother and sister-in law, Wade and Juanita Stuart as well as his sister and brother-in law Patsy and Bill Huffman.
Otis loved talking to people about his outdoor adventures of hunting, fishing, and golfing. He enjoyed every minute of watching our children and grandchildren playing all sports throughout the years. His beloved pet dog, Katie, remained faithfully by his side.
He proudly served his country in the US Army.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Caldwell Stuart. They were married together just shy of 60 years on July 18. Also surviving are three loving sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Kristin Stuart of Greensboro, North Carolina; Brian and Leigh Stuart of Galax, Virginia; Tim and Amanda Stuart of Salem, Virginia. Brother and sister-in law, Darrell and Debbie Stuart of Charlotte, North Carolina; sisters and brothers-in law, Brenda "Penny" Stuartand David Allen of Galax, Virginia; and Sue Stuart Vaughn and Benton of Morganton, North Carolina.
He truly cherished all nine of his grandchildren, Shannon Stuart Brooker (Jeremy) of Atlanta. Georgia; Payton Stuart Spours (Keegan) of Vinton, Virginia; Tommy Stuart of Glendale, California; Matthew, Nick & Jordan Stuart all of Christiansburg, Virginia.; and Jacob, Jayson and Jenna Stuart all of Galax, Virginia.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from five until seven at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Sunday at 3:00 PM in the Gladeville Cemetery with Sammy Burnette officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Grayson VFW Post 7726.

He will be truly missed!
