Opal Irene Wilson age 86 of Galax, Virginia passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013 in the Golden Living Center.

Mrs. Wilson was born in North Carolina on October 1, 1926 to Edgar and Vinnie Combs Carico. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband George Ellis Wilson.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Cheryl and Wayne Hines; Dawn and Terry Galyean all of Galax, Virginia; Machelle and Donald Burcham of Fancy Gap, Virginia; sons and daughters-in-law Jerry and Mary Lee Wilson; Ricky and Donna Wilson all of Galax, Virginia; sisters and brother-in-law Jeanette and Doug Morris of Waynesboro, Virginia; Juanita Carpenter and Ella Carico Davis both of Elkin, North Carolina; brother Buck Carico of Ennice, North Carolina; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. Bob Adams and the Rev. Ernie Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Meadow Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from six until eight at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
