Odie Anderson Bowers age 90 of Galax, Virginia passed away Friday, October 12, 2012 in the Twin County Regional Hospital.

Mr. Bowers was born in Carroll County, Virginia on August 14,1922 to Emmett and Mahaley Taylor Bowers. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Timothy Blake Bowers.

Mr. Bowers served his country proudly in the US Army and was a World War II veteran. He was a lifetime member of the Hillsville VFW Post 1115.

He is survived by his wife Virginia Bowers of Galax, Virginia; daughter and son-in-law Sandra and Steve Sexton of Hillsville, Virginia; sons and daughters-in-law Jerry and Denise Bowers; Tony and LeAnn Bowers all of Galax,Virginia; Jeffery Bowers of Nebraska; sister Edna Caruthers; brother and sister-in-law Robert and Imogene Bowers all of Galax, Virginia; grandchildren Randy Anders; LaConna Moretz; Angela B. Schiavone; Terri King; Richie King; Mary Carnley; Chris Knecht; Elaine Knecht; Kevin D. Powell; Stephen Bowers and Carrie Roberts; seventeen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Monday, October 15, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Snow Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Ernie Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Snow Hill Cemetery with Military Rites by the Hillsville VFW Post 1115. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from six until eight at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
