Oatie Edwin Leath age 84 of Galax. Virginia passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at his home.

Mr. Leath was born in Galax, Virginia on October 22, 1937 to John Samuel and Mallie Emmajane Dillon Leath. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Horton Leath and son Travis Leath.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Teresa and Ronald Burcham of Dobson, North Carolina; Geneva and Tim Weatherman of Galax, Virginia; sons and daughter-in-law Tim and Diane Leath of Woodlawn, Virginia; Sam Leath of Galax, Virginia; eleven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00 AM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. Terri Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from six until eight at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers ther family respectfully request donations be made to either the Pipers Gap Rescue Squad or to the Mountain Valley Hospice.
