Mrs. Nora Marie Lyons Shaw, age 93, of Galax, Virginia passed away Sunday, July 17, 2011 at the home of her daughter in Ennice, North Carolina.

Mrs. Shaw was born on April 6, 1918 in West Virginia to Leonard and Mattie Shupe Lyons. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Connie Jefferies Shaw.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Sylvia Rudd of Galax, Virginia; Linda and John Richter of West Palm Beach, Florida; Sandra and Mack Andrews of Ennice, North Carolina; Frances Dale of Jacksonville, Florida; Kathie and Ralph Pini of Holly Springs, North Carolina; Susan Shaw-Snow of Lake Gaston, North Carolina; sons and daughters-in-law John and Shelby Shaw; Larry Shaw and Brenda Barker all of Galax, Virginia; Gary and Mae Shaw of Hackett, Arkansas; sister Anne Watkins of Annapolis, Maryland; nineteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 1:00 PM in the Mt. Olivet Union Baptist Church with Rev. Rodney Christman, Rev. Bill Ring and Rev. Herbert Rutherford officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 PM untill time for the service at Mt. Olivet Union Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Glade Creek First Responders, P.O. Box 39 Ennice, N.C. 28623 or to the charity of the donor's choice. The family will receive friends at all other times at the Baywood home of Sandra and Mack Andrews 794 Beaver Creek Road, Galax, Virginia.
