Nellie Mae Burnette age 75 of Woodlawn, Virginia passed away Monday, May 11, 2009 at Twin County Regional Hospital. She was born on January 9, 1934 in Carroll County, Virginia to David Roscoe & Lelia Elizabeth Thomason Burnette. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Walter Roscoe Burnette. She is survived by her son and his fiancee' Jimmy Burnette & Deena Staples of Max Meadows, Va.; sister Hazel Shaffner of Galax, Va.; brother & sister-in-law Joseph Clyde & Linda Burnette of Woodlawn, Va.; several nieces & nephews; host of friends and other relatives. The funeral service will be held Thursday, May 14, 2009 at 2:00 pm in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Ted Bartlett and Associate Pastor Angie Lineberry officiating. Burial will follow in the Burnette Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from six until eight at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
