Nellie Artance Burnette age 54 of Fries, Virginia passed away Sunday, July 12 2015 in the Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Nellie was born in Grayson County, Virginia on January 13, 1961 to Cloyd McDaniel and Mary Frances Davis Hanks. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister Diana Roberts and a brother Belford Hanks.

She is survived by her husband Dwight Burnette of Fries, Virginia; daughter and son-in-law Diana and Mark Catron of Galax, Virginia; son and daughter-in-law Bobby Wayne and Stacie Tate of Galax, Virginia; step-daughter Lee Ann Woods of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; step-son and fiancee' Mark Burnette and Heidi Ruhling of Radford, Virginia; sisters and brother-in-law Mary Elizabeth Barrett of Galax, Virginia; Esther and James Rowland of Gretna, Virginia; brothers and sisters-in-law Jimmy and Susan Hanks; Jessie Hanks all of Galax, Virginia; Chester and Joan Hanks of Hillsville, Virginia; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special niece Jenny Short.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 1:00 PM in the Stevens Creek Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Bond officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family.
