Nathan Elbert Combs, Jr. age 86 of Galax, Va. passed away Friday, September 7, 2007 in Carroll County, Va.. Mr. Combs was born on December 18, 1920 in Grayson County, Va. to Nathan Elbert & Bertie Kegley Combs. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Georgia Harris Combs. He is survived by his daughter & son-in-law Patricia Y. & Retired Major Griggs Dixon of Woodlawn, Va.; son Gregory Harris Combs of Galax, Va.; sister & brother-in-law Blanche & Dean Hackler of Galax, Va.; brothers & sisters-in-law Colin & Marie Combs; Bowie & Doris Combs all of Galax, Va.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service will be held Monday, September 10, 2007 at 11:00 AM in Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church with Rev. Doug Hyndrich officiating. Burial will follow in Monta Vista Cemetery with Military Rites by Hillsville VFW Post 1115. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from six until nine at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
