Nancy "Ruth" Hensdell Burnette, age 98, of Galax, VA went to be with her Heavenly Father on August 29, 2022. She was born on August 31, 1923 to the late James and Nancy Isom Hensdell of Independence, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Vivian E. Burnette, Sr., her five sisters, four brothers, a daughter-in-law, a great-grandchild, and a great-great-grandchild.

She is survived by her children, Junior and Muriel Burnette of Galax, VA; Nancy Lee and Teddy Monk of Burlington, NC; Dale and Mary Burnette of Galax, VA; Dannie Burnette and fiancé, Sandra Martin, of Galax, VA; and Royce and Bonita Burnette of Galax, VA. She is survived by 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was a loving mother and grandmother, who enjoyed attending church, singing, working on puzzles, playing Rook, and spending time with her family.

There will be no visitation at Ruth's home. The funeral services will be held Saturday, September 3 ^rd , at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home in Galax, VA. The family will have visitation from 1:00 PM until service time.  The service will begin at 2:00 PM with Pastor Dave Anders and Pastor Mark Mayes officiating, followed by the graveside at Monta Vista Cemetery.
