Myrtle P. Montgomery, 77, of Woodlawn passed away Monday, August 4th at the Northern Hospital of Surry, Mt. Airy, NC. Mrs. Montgomery was the widow of Elbert C. Alderman and Walter S. Montgomery.

She was born February 10, 1931 to William Floyd and Anna Cox Bowers in Carroll County, Virignia.

Surviving are three daughters & a son-in-law: Betty Jo James of Woodlawn, Nita & Eddie Linville of Galax and Darla D. Tate of Hillsville; two sons & daughters-in-law: Elbert & Diana Alderman of Independence and James & Anita Alderman of Hillsville; four sisters and brothers-in-law: Arlene Sutton of Texas, Gladys Martin of Statesville, NC, Hazel & Manuel Huff of Conway, SC and Dean & Frank Hodge of Roanoke, VA; two brothers Robert C. Bowers of Washington State and Elwood Bowers of Independence. Twelve grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends from 7 pm until 8 pm on Wednesday August 6th at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home and the service will follow at 8 PM with the Reverends Stacy Redd and Everett Cox officiating. Burial will be in the River Hill Christian Church Cemetery on Thursday August 7th at 10 AM.
