Muncie Ray Hawks age 61 of Fancy Gap, Virginia passed away Thursday, January 16, 2014 at his home.

Muncie was born on April 29, 1952 in Carroll County, Virginia to Posie Rector and Mary Hawks. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Frances Carlene Hawks and a brother-in-law Perry Allen.

He is survived by his wife Carol Jean Weitzel Hawks of Fancy Gap, Virginia; daughter Samantha Hawks of Fancy Gap, Virginia; son and daughter-in-law Tommy and Rachelle Hawks of Daphne, Alabama; adopted daughter Michelle Hawks of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; step-daughter Christina Myers of Indianapolis, Indiana; step-sons William Myers of Medina, Tennessee; Joseph Myers of Dickinson, North Dakota; sisters and brothers-in-law Lois and Lloyd Burcham of Woodlawn, Virginia; Mary Alice "Mousie" and Ted Russell; Norma Allen all of Fancy Gap, Virginia; Ima and Dale Johnson of Galax, Virginia; brothers and sisters-in-law Phillip J. and Sandy Hawks of Dublin, Virginia; Rodger and Judy Hawks of Cloverdale, Virginia; one granddaughter; four step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Monday, January 20, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Elder Edwin Pete Hawks and the Rev. Dewey Felts officiating. Burial will follow in the Susie Hawks Cemetery with Military Rites by the Hillsville VFW Post 1115. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from six until eight at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
