Mitchell Kyle Brown age 72 of Independence, Virginia passed away Sunday, December 15, 2019 in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Mitchell was born in Carroll County, Virginia on April 15, 1947 to Guy Clark Mitchell Brown and Myrtle Hutcheson Brown. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters and brother-in-law Ruth Brown Redd and Harvey; Linda Brown McMickle and J.T. and a brother Jimmy Brown.

He proudly served his country in the US Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He retired from the US Postal Service with 32 years service.

He is survived by his wife Sharon Rutherford Brown and son Michael David Brown both of Independence, Virginia; sister-in-law and husband Janice and J.C. Osborne of Elk Creek, Virginia; brothers-in-law and wife Roger and Phyllis Rutherford of Rural Retreat, Virginia; Rick Rutherford of Randleman, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Pastor Ron Hill officiating. Burial will be private for the family at a later date. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 PM until time for the service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
