Mildred Williams Sawyers' Obituary
Mildred Williams Sawyers, 73, of Woodlawn, VA passed away Friday, January 13 at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC.
Mildred was born in Ivanhoe (Wythe County) Virginia on October 30, 1938 to the late Dorothy Richardson Hicks and Nile Hicks.
Mildred is survived by her husband: Cleve Sawyers of the home; son Kenneth Combs of the Pipers Gap Section of Galax; and a step daughter Denise Ramey of Low Gap, NC; two sisters: Linda Branscome and Phyllis Thacker both of Max Meadows, Virginia;one brother: Meridith Williams of Austinville, VA. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Josh Combs, Jordon Combs, Schyler Ramey, Vanessa Ramey, one step grandson Kevin Leonard and three step great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Fairview Baptist Church from 7 until 9 PM. The funeral service will be held Monday, January 16, 2012 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Sam Holder officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the home of Mildred's son Kenneth at 2916 Coal Creek Road, Galax at any time.
