Mildred Kathleen Isom Nelson age 88 of Woodlawn, Virginia passed away Thursday in the SECU Hospice Home in Yadkinville, North Carolina.

Mrs. Nelson was born in Fries, Virginia on January 7, 1935 to John and Blanch Whitter Isom. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son Roy James Nelson; sister Mary Johnson; brothers Glenn Isom and Harvey Isom and two half-brothers J.D. Isom and Woodrow Isom.

She is survived by her husband James Nelson of Woodlawn, Virginia; son and daughter-in-law Virgil and Suzanne Nelson of Stafford, Virginia; sister Nellie A Jennings of Wytheville, Virginia; brother Delmer Isom of Galax, Virginia; grandchildren and spouses Nicholas and Carrie Nelson; Adam and Della Nelson all of Richmond, Virginia; Katie Whitney of Boulder, Colorado; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Sunday at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Pastor Ronald Bowman and Pastor Jerry Nester officiating. Burial will follow in the Nelson Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 PM until time for the service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family request donations  be made to the Mt. Valley Hospice, 1477 Carrollton Pike, Hillsville, Virginia 24343.
