Mildred Porter Anderson age 84 of Independence, Virginia passed away Thursday, January 30, 2025 in the Waddell Nursing and Rehab Center.

Mrs. Anderson was born on November 1, 1940 in Fries, Virginia to Alexander Robert and Ary Katherine Bonham Porter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Garland Anderson; son-in-law Sonny Kinzer; sister Ethel Funk and brothers Raymond Porter and Bruce Porter .

She is survived by her daughter Katherine Kinzer of Independence Virginia; brother Kermit Porter of Galax, Virginia; one granddaughter and husband Joni and Justin Spurlin;  one step-grandson and wife Michael and Bridget Kinzer;  great-grandchildren Maci Spurlin; Dakota, Isabella and Selena Kinzer and several nieces and nephews; special friends Pete and Cindy Roten; beloved pet Snuggles.

A graveside service will be held Saturday at 1:00 PM in the Baptist Union Church Cemetery with Pastor Doug Stuart officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
