Melvin Clyde Alley age 68 of Taylorsville, North Carolina passed away Monday night at the Carolina Caring in Newton, North Carolina.

Melvin was born in Galax, Virginia on October 11, 1951 to Clyde Catron and Virginia Beatrice Vaughan Alley.

He proudly served his country in the US Army.

He is survived by his wife Glenda Sue Taylor Alley of Taylorsville, North Carolina; sons and daughters-in-law Manuel and Denise Alley of Taylorsville, North Carolina; Scotty and Brenda Alley of Fries, Virginia; daughter Amy Manning of Claremont, North Carolina; six grandchildren Tyler Alley; Amanda Adams; Stephanie Johnson; Eric Manning; Taylor Manning and Casey Manning; sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Randy Gravely; niece Sherry Gravely.

The funeral service will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM in the Fries Church of God of Prophecy with the Rev. Tony Vaughan and Pastor Barbara Gravely officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Rites by the Grayson VFW Post 7726. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12 noon until time for the service at the Fries Church of God of Prophecy.
