Melissa Faye Swinney Brown passed away Tuesday April 9, 2024 in the Forsyth Medical Center.

Melissa was born in Galax, Virginia on September 5, 1967 to Harold Len and Audrey Faye Swinney.

She is survived by her mother Audrey Faye Horton of Galax, Virginia; son and daughter-in-law Christopher and Heather McFarland; daughters Megan McFarland and her fiancé' Ryan Diehl; Amanda Swinney; sister and brother-in-law Jody and Ricky Sexton; seven grandchildren Chloe Hunley; Caysen Hill; Bentley and Braylee Anderson; Waylon and Kimber McFarland; Dorian Bond;  niece and her fiance' Kristen Adams and Lupe Hernandez; nephew and spouse Mark and Alisha Adams; her fiancé' Roger Ray; special friends Sherry Dalton; Anthony Bond and Andrew Bond; many other special friends.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from six until eight at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.Flowers will be appreciated or donations may be made to the Galax Grayson Carroll Animal Shelter, 200 Fair Street, Galax, Virginia 24333.
