Maxine Melton Green, 77, of Independence and formerly of Galax, passed away Saturday at the Wake Forest University North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC. She was the widow of Harry Leon Green. Mrs. Green is survived by the following: daughters & sons in law, Percela Green & Marcus Edwards, Galax, Marie & Jim Morrison, Galax, Cedella & Johnny Helfrich, Crestview, FL. sons & daughters in law, Mark & Donna Green, Mt. Airy, NC, Leon & Debbie Green, Laurel Hill, FL, sister, Alma Melton, Galax, brother, Harold Melton, Galax, 11 Grandhcildren, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. Mrs. Green's family will receive friends Monday, March 31, 2008 at Vaughan-Guynn from 6 PM until 9 PM.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 1 at 2:00 PM in the Longview United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Oakland Cemetery.
