Maurice June Wright, age 85, passed away peacefully Saturday September 12, 2020 at his home in Fries, Virginia.

Mr. Wright was born on February 20, 1935 in Steven's Creek (Fries), Virginia to Charles and Myrtle Millwood Wright. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Patsy Atkins Wright; sisters and brothers-in-law Betty and James "Buck" Davis, Lois and John Jennings; and infant sister Margaret Wright.

Mr. Wright proudly serviced his country in the United States Navy. He lived an active life and made many friends at General Motor Line, Guardian Glass, and Pat's Grocery Store.  Mr. Wright also inspired many people with his daily devotionals and words of wisdom on social media.

He is survived by two daughters Lori Bilbrey and her husband Danny of Wytheville, and Lesia Wright of Galax; grandchildren Kendall Bilbrey of Athens, Ohio and Taylor Bilbrey of Denver, Colorado. Also surviving is his brother and sister-in-law Charles "Bud" and Frances Wright of Galax; sister and brother- in-law Barbara and David Harmon of Fries; brother-in-law Doug Atkins, and his wife Susie of Ocean Isle, North Carolina; special caregiver and nurse Amanda Owens of Twin County Home Health; and several nieces, nephews and special friends.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday September 15, 2020 at 1:00 PM in Providence Cemetery with Rev. Tony Vaughan officiating. Military Rites will be conducted at the gravesite by Grayson VFW Post 7726. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Due to CDC recommendations social distancing and mask will be required for the graveside service
