Maudleene Cochran, 85, of Roanoke, VA went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 1, 2015. She was preceded in death by her father, Y.B. Hall, Sr., mother, Maude Mitchell Hall, infant brother, Robert Carlin Hall, sister, Gladys Cruise, and husband, Lynwood Cochran.
She is survived by her twin brother, Y.B. Hall, Jr. and wife, Sue Hall, sister, Guyda Hedrick, and nieces, Alta Cruise Vaughn, Shirley Cruise Marshall, Marie Cruise Sullivan and nephews, J.B. Cruise and Ricky Hall. She is also survived by several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Maudleene was born in Carroll County, VA on June 17, 1930. She graduated from James Madison College, majoring in elementary education, and taught 3rd grade for many years. Following her retirement she was employed by Heironimus Department Store and worked in the ladies ready-to-wear department. Her favorite vacation was going to the beach.
Maudleene was a member of First Baptist Church, Roanoke, where she was active in her Sunday School class. The family would like to thank special friends Frances Shelton and Lois Sue Hash for their loving care during her illness. Also, we are grateful to the staff of Lewis-Gale hospice for the compassionate care they provided for Maudleene.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 5th at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Carroll County, VA, at 2:00 PM with the Elder Edward Bowman officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Roanoke Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 11525, Roanoke, VA 24022.
