Mattie Christine Morris Hodge age 75 of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday, December 25, 2017 in the Waddell Nursing and Rehab Center.

Mrs. Hodge was born in Carroll County, Virginia on March 3, 1942 to James W. and Rachel Burcham Morris. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters and brothers-in-law Betty and Harold Dean Schuyler; Mary and Gary Goodnough; brother and sister-in-law Howard and Mabel Morris.

She is survived by her husband Wade L. Hodge; daughter and son-in-law Rene' and Mike Funk; grandson Nick Barr; sister and brother-in-law Velma and Roger Jones all are of Galax, Virginia; brother and sister-in-law Joe and Dreama Morris of Forest, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Oakland Cemetery with Pastor Myron Dalton officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home; however, friends may call anytime at the home of Rene' and Mike Funk, 210 Alderman Street, Galax, Virginia. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request donations be made to either the Midway Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1135, Galax, Virginia 24333 or the American Cancer Society, 2840 Electric Road, Roanoke, Virginia 24018.
