Mattie Lillian Young better known as "Meme" age 75 of Fries, Virginia passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at her home.

Ms. Young was born in Galax, Virginia on February 23, 1944 to Alfred Henry and Janie Cockerham Young.

She is survived by her nieces Dondea Young and finace' Celeste Archuleta of Galax, Virginia; Karen Young of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; nephew Darnell Young (Carrie Lee) of Fries, Virginia; great-nieces Stephanie Young of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Zemicah Young of Galax, Virginia; Cristin Nelson of Fries, Virginia; great-nephews Stephen Young of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Junior Young and Jerome Young both of Fries, Virginia; Chantavian Young; several great-great nieces and great-great-nephews; special friends Jeanie Fugate; Mae Anderson and Michelle Shupe.

The funeral service will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. Matt Linkous and Elder Dayle McKinney officiating. Burial will follow in the Oldtown Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12 noon until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
