Matthew Paul Newman, age 59, of Bristol, TN passed away Friday, February 1, 2019 at Holston Valley Medical Center.

He was a 15 year employee of Bristol Compressors. Matthew enjoyed crafts, he collected books and was a fan of historical ones. He especially loved to read about paranormal activity in VA and TN. He also enjoyed watching movies. He was a big WWE fan.

He was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church.

Matthew was preceded in death by his father, Wilson Newman and his mother-in-law, Elsie McCracken.
He is survived by his mother, Jane Newman; his wife of 32 years, Beverly Newman; daughter, Heather Newman; son, Dennis McCracken and wife, Alisha; brother, Samuel Newman and wife, Cindy; grandchild, Trevin McCracken; three sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews and one spoiled Jack Russell named Jack.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am, Monday, February 4, 2019 in Akard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in Susong Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Akard Funeral Home.
