Mason Ray Lawson, 82, of Galax, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at the Waddell Nursing Home. He was born in Carroll County, Virginia on December 18, 1925 to the late Roy & Gertie Padgett Lawson. In addition to his parents Mr. Lawson was preceded in death by a son Mark Steven Lawson.

He is survived by his wife: Katheryn Frost Lawson of the home, three sons & daughters-in-law: Jerry & Wanda Lawson of Woodlawn; John & Angie Lawson of Galax, and Douglas Lawson of Galax. Two grandchildren Jody Lawson & Amy Lawson survive along with brother & sister-in-law: R. F. & Zollie Lawson of Woodlawn; step sister and brother-in-law: Bonnie & Allen Hill of High Point, North Carolina.

The family will receive friends Saturday, December 20, 2008 from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 Pm at the Vaughan-Guynn Fuenral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Brother Wayne Bailey, Brother Carroll Lineberry, and Brother Elmer Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery.
