Mary Frances Smith age 85 of Galax, Virginia passed away Friday, May 23, 2014 in the Twin County Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Smith was born in Galax, Virginia on April 9, 1929 to Connie Lee and Mary Albinia Reeves Fields. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Clayton Smith; sister Faye Evans and a brother Tracy Fields.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Barry and Donna Smith of Springfield, Tennessee; Tracy and Tammie Smith of Galax, Virginia; granddaughter and fiancé Amy Smith and Cody Moore; grandsons Clay Smith; Jeffrey Smith and his fiancée Jackie White; great-grandchildren Justin Smith and Jenna Smith; sister Freida Wright of Galax, Virginia; Brother-in-law & spouse, Chester & Joyce Smith, Jacksonville, FL; sisters-in-law & spouses, Shirley & Glen Dalton, Sylvadus, VA & Wiladean & Bill Cannon, Moorhead, NC.
The funeral service will be held Monday, May 26, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the West Galax United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joe Carico and the Rev. Robert McLean officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery. The body will lie-in-state one hour prior the funeral service. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from six until eight at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
