Mary Cumberford Sawyers age 76 of Galax, Virginia passed away Thursday, August 2, 2018 in the Forsyth Medical Center.

Mrs. Sawyers was born on September 24, 1941 in Scotland to John and Miriam Gotham Cumberford.

She is survived by her husband Arless J. Sawyers of Galax, Virginia; daughters and sons-in-law Arlene and Ricki Stuart of Galax, Virginia; Sharon and Bill Reeves of Independence, Virginia; Katherine and Dwayne Sexton of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; Anna and Clayton Farmer of Woodlawn, Virginia; grandchildren and spouse Casey and Jacob Epperson; Kerri and Will Thorp; Anthony and La'Sha Sexton ; Clayton R. and Angelina Farmer; five great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother of Scotland; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, August 5, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Beech Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Burcham and the Rev. Mark Carico officiating. Burial will follow in the Beech Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from six until eight at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
