Mary Ruth Edwards age 88 of Galax, Virginia passed away Thursday October 19, 2017 in the Grayson Nursing and Rehab Center in Independence, Virginia.

Mrs. Edwards was born in Grayson County, Virginia on February 17, 1929. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Keith Alexander Edwards; son Alvin Wayne Edwards; grandson Joseph Wayne Edwards; sister Virginia Jennings and a brother Jessie Thomas.

She is survived by a son Melvin Edwards of Galax, Virginia; sisters and brother-in-law Pearl and Ted Spraker; Alice Khal all of Hillsville, Virginia; Dorothy Edwards of Culpepper, Virginia; one grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Monday October 23, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Blue Ridge Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Bunn officiating. Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 AM until time for the funeral service at the Blue Ridge Chapel Baptist Church.
