Mary Ellen McKenzie Brooks, 76, of Mount Airy, North Carolina passed away Monday March 9, 2015 at the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina. Mrs. Brooks was born December 16, 1938 in Grayson County, Virginia to the late George W. McKenzie and Mary Bobbitt McKenzie.

She is survived by her son Dana Brooks of Mount Airy, North Carolina, two grandchildren Matthew Brooks and Kayla Brooks; three sisters and brothers-in-law: Loyce and Larry McMillian of Mount Airy, NC; Joyce and Carl Caudill of Fancy Gap, Virginia; and Nancy and Bobby Hawks of Galax, Virginia; sister-in-law: Alma McKenzie of Galax; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the McKenzie Cemetery, Galax, Virginia with Rev. Ted Bartlett officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
