Mary Raye Mayberry age 72 of Galax, Va. passed away Monday, September 14, 2009 at Waddell Nursing Home.

Mrs. Mayberry was born in Danville, Va. on May 29, 1937 to Charlie & Mary Harris Vicks. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Mack H. Mayberry.

She is survived by a daughter & son-in-law Teresa & Bud Roberts of Galax, Va.; son Ricky Wright of Big Stone Gap; grandchildren & spouses Shannon & Patrick Spurlin; Michael Roberts; John & Jackie Roberts; great-grandsons Caleb Spurlin & Avery Roberts; step-granddaughter Rose Marie Bowen; step-great-grandsons Mark Bowen & Paul Bowen; sisters & brother-in-law Thelma & Otis Barber of Charlotte, N.C.; Martha Campbell of Danville, Va.; brothers & sisters-in-law Daniel Vicks of Danville, Va.; Carl & Sandy Vicks of Georgia; Edith Vicks; fourteen nieces & nephews; twenty-eight great nieces & nephews; ten great-great-nieces & nephews; special friend Rudy Barr.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at Blue Ridge Chapel Baptist Church at 11:00 am with Rev. David Moore & Rev. Fredrick Vicks officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from six until eight at Blue Ridge Chapel Baptist Church.
