Mary Sue Byrd age 82 of Galax, Va. passed away Thursday afternoon in Waddell Nursing Home. Mrs. Byrd was born in Carroll County, Va. on October 15, 1925 to Craig & Della Sumner Miller. In addition to her parents Mary was preceded in death by her husband June Byrd and son Roger Byrd. She is survived by her sons & daughters-in-law Clayton & Donna Byrd of Galax, Va.; Larry & Caroline Byrd of Woodlawn, Va.; sisters Eula Fulk of Greensboro, N.C.; Martha Porter of Woodlawn, Va.; brother & sister-in-law Earl & Barbara Miller of Greensboro, N.C.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. The funeral service will be held Sunday, October 21, 2007 at 2:00 pm at Oakland United Methodist Church with Rev. John Ousley and Rev. Richard Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in Snow Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from six until eight at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
