Obituary

Mary Rubye Boyer, 79, of Galax, VA went home to be with her Lord
and Savior on February 9, 2007, following a long illness. Rubye was born in Comers Rock near Elk Creek on March 25, 1927, the youngest daughter of the late Hoye and Percilla Cornett. Rubye was a loving wife, precious mother, grandmother and great –grandmother. She retired with her husband John W. Boyer of 51 years from John S. Clark of Mt. Airy, NC; she was previously employed at Twin County Community Hospital. She was a member of the Little Pine Brethren Church where her late husband Billy was the pastor for 27 years.

Surviving are her three 'angel' daughters and two sons-in-law: Mrs. Shelby Singleton, Surfside Beach, SC; Patricia and James Dingus of Defiance, Ohio; Mary and John E. Davis of Galax, VA. Four grandchildren and four great grandchildren: Robert & Latrelle Morris III and Bobby IV of Neptune Beach, Florida; Baine & Christy Dingus, children Macey and Tristen of Defiance, Ohio; Heather and Nick Holt and infant son Colson; Jennifer Davis and her finance Josh Huff all of Galax; one sister Lelia Poe, two sisters-in-law: Aldena Cornett and Jama Lee Murray; brother-in-law and wife Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Boyer all of Galax.

Several nieces and nephews, a very special friend Rev. Basil Burcham; life long loving friends Rev. Bill & Shirley Davis. All the wonderful dedicated staff of Waddell Nursing Home and the nursing staff at Twin County Regional Hospital.

She was preceded in death by two brothers Delmar and Herman Cornett.

The Visitation will be Sunday February 11 from 6 to 8 o'clock. The funeral service will be held Monday, Feb. 12 at 11;00 in the Camp Zion Church with burial following the service in Comers Rock Cemetery where she will join her beloved husband Billy.
