Mary Lois Bartlett Canup, age 77 of Galax, Virginia passed away Sunday, October 29, 2017 at the home of Steve and Lanita Canup after a lengthy illness.

She was born November 27, 1939 in Galax, Virginia to the late Curtis Perry and Ruth Williams Bartlett. She was a homemaker and a member of the Fries Church of Christ. She was united in marriage on June 18, 1955 to Jimmie Ray Canup.

She is survived by her husband Jimmie Canup of Galax, Virginia; three sons Steve (Lanita) Canup of Austinville, Virginia; James Kevin Canup of Laramie, WY; Tim (Cindy) Canup of West Jefferson, NC; two daughters Joanne (Mark) Bass of Grove City, OH; Sharon (Steve) Norris of Glasgow, KY; two brothers William (Margie) Bartlett of Archdale, NC; Bayne Bartlett of High Point, NC; two sisters Lavie McDaniel of Woodleaf, NC; Joy (Roy) Forrest of Galax, Virginia; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother Eldon Bartlett and one sister Jeanette Anderson.

At her request, she was cremated. A Celebration of Mary's life will be held Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Southside Church of Christ from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM.
