Marler Don Sharp age 87 of Galax, Virginia passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at his home.

Mr. Sharp was born in the Buck Dam community of Carroll County, Virginia on July 6, 1925 to Robert Lee and Hope Smythers Sharp. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Una Dukes and brothers Buford Sharp and Clyde Sharp.

He is survived by his wife Jean Sharp of Galax, Virginia; daughters and sons-in-law Marlene and James Austin; Shelia and Ken Hundley all of Galax, Virginia; sons and daughters-in-law Galen and Shirley Sharp of Galax, Virginia; George and Jill Sharp of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren Chris Austin, Travis Austin, Skyler Sharp, India Sharp, Dylan Sharp, Liam Sharp, Lily Sharp and Ella Sharp; great-grandchildren Matthew Austin and Zachary Austin; brother Kent Sharp of Pulaski, Virginia.

The funeral service will be held Friday, July 27, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Pastor David Bays officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery with Masonic Rites by the Hillsville Lodge # 193. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
