Marie L. Newman age 102 of Galax, Virginia passed away Saturday, September 6, 2025 at her home.

Mrs. Newman was born on May 31, 1923 in Carroll County, Virginia to Henry and Ella Mae  Linville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Kemper Hodge; son James Hodge; daughter and son-in-law Shirley and Robert McLean; daughter-in-law Bonnie Hodge; seven sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Earline and Young McLean; Cathy and Eddie Testerman; son and daughter-in-law Roy and Mary Hodge all of Galax, Virginia; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

There will be no services held at this time, however; friends may come by the home at 619 Parkwood Drive Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM.
