Margaret McBride Keen age 73 of Fries, Va. passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2008 in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Keen was born on March 30, 1935 in Woodstown, New Jersey to Posey G. & Mary A. Shaffner McBride. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Harold C. Keen on April 16, 2008; a sister Mabel Hartley and a brother Gordon McBride. She is survived by her daughters & sons-in-law Cheryl & Carlton Johnson; Debra & John Shivers all of Woodstown, New Jersey; son & daughter-in-law David & Cindy Keen of Woodstown, New Jersey; grandchildren Kimberly Keen; Allen Johnson & Jason Keen; sisters-in-law Patricia Donnell of Carneys Point, New Jersey & Betty Beal of Aldine, New Jersey. Mrs. Keen was a long time member of the Order of Eastern Star; worked in the cafeteria at Mary Shumarker School and the high school in Woodstown, N.J.; was a Brownie Scout leader for many years; graduated from Woodstown High School in 1952; loved camping, sewing, cooking, gardening and count cross stitching; she was an avid member of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church in Fries, Va. where she worked with the youth. The funeral service will be held Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 4:00 pm at Mt. Hope United Methodist Church, Fries, Va. with Rev. Ken Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from two until four before the funeral service. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Fries Fire Department, P.O. Box 9, Fries, Va. 24330 or to the American Cancer Society.
