Magdalene Vaughan Crowder, 79, of Galax passed away Friday March 25, 2016 at the Grayson Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Independence, Virginia. Magdalene was born June 6, 1936 in Grayson County, Virginia to the late Radley B. Vaughan and Sallie Mae Patton Vaughan. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Olen Crowder and son Gary Crowder.

She is survived by her daughter Diane Joyce of Galax; daughter-in-law Denise Webb of Baywood; four grandchildren Josh Crowder, Christopher Dowling, Takeshi Smith, and Kara Joyce; three great grandchildren: Cade Smith, Addison Smith and Harper Smith; two sisters Ann Bobbitt of Independence and Juanita Sutphin of Galax. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service will be held Monday, March 28, 2016 at 3:00 PM in the Fries Church of God of Prophecy with Pastor Tony Vaughan and Pastor Rick Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Monta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Monday, March 28 from 1:00 PM until time for the service.
