Mr Mack Grady Patton age 88, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 3:59, in Galax, Virginia at Twin County Regional Hospital. Mr. Patton was born July 27, 1929 in Galax to the late Elbert and Mae Bell Felts Patton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Berylene Lundy Patton. Four brothers, Wallace, Wesley, Claby, and Freddie and one sister, Eugenia, also preceded him.
He is survived by his daughters Pam Hughes and her husband Donnie of Gibsonville, NC and Karen Poole and her husband Terry of Woodlawn. Two granddaughters, Jenny Greene and husband Tony and Sara Lambert and husband Travis. Four great-grandchildren, Silas and Emily Greene and Ella and Grady Lambert.
Mr Patton accepted Christ as a young man and was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church for over 65 years.
One of his first jobs was setting the pins by hand at the old bowling alley in Galax. He also took flying lessons and learned to fly planes at the airfield in Fairview.
He owned and ran Midway Heights Service Station for 30 years. He drove for area trucking companies and was an auctioneer.
Mr Patton was one of the first vendors to set up at the Hillsville Flea Market.
The funeral service will be held Friday, March 16, 2018 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Vaughan-Guynn with Rev. Randy Morris officiating. Interment to follow in the Felts Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 15 from 6 to 8p.m. at Vaughan-Guynn.
