Mabelene L. Tate Hawks age 65 of Cana, Virginia passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021 in the Northern Regional Hospital in Mt. Airy, North Carolina.

Mabelene was born in Carroll County, Virginia on August 15, 1956 to Lee William and Mary Lou Tate.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Jacklene; "Buck" Vestal Tate and Paulene Tate.

She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Sharon and Darrell Gwyn of Cana, Virginia; Carrie and Brian Keyser of Dobson, North Carolina; sisters and brothers-in-law Kathlene and Sammy Ashburn of Dobson, North Carolina; Ima Jean Dalton of Fancy Gap, Virginia; Shelby Phillips of Cana, Virginia; Gracie and Bobby Goad of Laurel Fork, Virginia; brother Junior Tate of Cana, Virginia;  grandchildren Brittany Kyser of Cana, Virginia; Aaron Cox of Stuart, Virginia; Darena Gwyn and Kehisha Gwyn both of Cana, Virginia; Sarah Cox of Stuart, Virginia; Stephen Cox father of Sarah and Aaron Cox.

A graveside service will be held Thursday at 3:00 PM in the Phillips and Galyean Cemetery with Pastor Anthony Thomas officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
