Lynwood "L.D." Galyean of Galax, Virginia passed away Tuesday August 24, 2021 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina.

L.D. was born in Carroll County, Virginia on February 18, 1935 to Lynwood and Lessie Lowe Galyean. In addition to parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Nancy Hash Galyean.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Terry and Dawn Galyean; daughters and sons-in-law Susie and Charles Ward; Mindy and Jerry Shumate; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Scott and Jama Hash; sister-in-law Alene Hash all of Galax, Virginia; aunt Opal Lamb of Raleigh, North Carolina; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

He proudly owned and operated Galyean Plumbing and Electric for 50 years. In addition he sold propane for the last 25 years. L.D. fastly became friends with his customers and enjoyed meeting people from all over the country. Some of his best times were spent talking with friends and family over coffee at his business. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1957.

A graveside service will be held Sunday at 2:00 PM in the Fishers Gap Cemetery with Pastor Ernie Smith and special friends Jerry Cranfill and Anne McGrady officiating. There will be no visitation.
