Lydia Walker Delp, 85, of Woodlawn, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at the Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Mrs. Delp was born in Carroll County, Virginia on June 10, 1923 to John L. & Elizabeth Ayers Walker.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Delp was preceded in death by her husband Frank W. Delp, sons Marvin, Harold and L. B. (BB) Delp.
She is survived by four daughters: Wanda Reece of Spartanburg, South Carolina; Patricia Alman of Mableton, Georgia, Lavon Henderson of Dry Creek, West Virginia; Janie Delp of Woodlawn, Virginia; six sons: Edward Delp of Hickory, North Carolina; Roger Delp, Freddie Delp, Rawlan Delp, and Donald Delp all of Woodlawn, and John Delp of Fancy Gap, Virginia. Twenty-seven grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held Friday, January 9, 2009 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. Ronny Harrison and Rev. Camet Spivey officiating. Interment will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery in Galax, VA.
