Lyda Alene Hanks' Obituary
Lyda Alene Hanks, age 89, of Galax, VA, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009 in the Waddell Nursing Home, Galax.
Mrs. Hanks was born in Carroll County, VA on the date of Sept. 6,1919 to Logan J. & Mamie Beatrice Williams Burcham.
She is survived by her husband, Elmer James Hanks, daughters & sons-in-law, Marie Smith, Bonnie & Carroll Coleman, Reta & Billy Coleman, Wanda & Gene Huffman all of Galax, VA and nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Monday, Jan. 12, 2009 in the Locust Grove Church of Christ at 2:00 PM with burial to follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery. Guy Russell, Jr. will be the officiating minister.
the family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service Monday. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Locust Grove Church of Christ, Fries Road, Galax, VA.
