Luther Joseph Hanks, Jr. age 63 of Galax, Virginia passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at his home.
Mr. Hanks was born on July 28, 1948 in Galax, Virginia to Luther Joseph Hanks, Sr. and Ida Louise Roberts Hanks. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a brother Thomas Wesley (Red) Hanks.
He is survived by his mother Ida Hanks Galax, Virginia; step-daughter Tammy Lineberry; sisters and brother-in-law Judy Royal; Sue and Daniel Loggins all of Galax, Virginia; brothers and sister-in-law James and Dannette Hanks of Dobson, North Carolina; Danny Ray Hanks and Larry Wayne Hanks both of Galax, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Joey Baggatta officiating. Burial will follow in the Galax City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
