Louis Morrison age 89 of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday, October 15, 2012 in the Golden Living/Blue Ridge Nursing & Rehab Center.

Mr. Morrison was born on January 26, 1923 in Statesville, North Carolina to Blake and Lula Morrison. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Frances Lucille (Lucy) Morrison and sisters Louise Brown and Phyllis Reep.

Mr. Morrison proudly served his country in the US Army and was a World War II veteran.

He is survived by his wife Maxie Morrison of Galax, Virginia; daughter and son-in-law Debra and Steve Johnson of Fayetteville, North Carolina; sons and special friend Jeffrey Morrison and Lynda Smythers; Dan Morrison all of Galax, Virginia; grandchildren Lisa Capp; Tracy Bunce; Julie Johnson; Janine Morrison and Joshua Morrison; six great-grandchildren; sister Laura Trivette of Statesville, North Carolina; brothers Robert Morrison of Statesville, North Carolina; Bill Morrison of Statesville, North Carolina; Blake Morrison of Greensboro, North Carolina; step-children and spouse Deanna Jones of Pulaski, Virginia; Johnny and Susie Poole of Bristol, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Friday, October 19, 2012 at 3:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Mark Carico and Rev. Hobert Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery with Military Rites by the Grayson VFW Post 7726. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from six until eight at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
