Lola Irene Akers age 81 of Galax, Va. passed away Friday, January 11, 2008 at the home of her granddaughter. Mrs. Akers was born on October 30, 1926 in Carroll County, Va. to Riley & Emily Hundley Edwards. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Wanda Akers Huffman of Galax, Va.; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers John Edwards & Louis Edwards both of Galax, Va.; several nieces & nephews. The funeral service will be held Sunday, January 13, 2008 at 3:00 pm at Locust Grove Church of Christ with Guy Russell, Jr. and Chuck Edwards officiating. The body will lie-in-state one hour before the funeral service. Burial will follow in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from seven until nine at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
