Mattie Lois Williams Smith, age 77 of Galax, VA died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017 at the Waddell Nursing & Rehab. Center, Galax, VA.

Mrs. Smith was born Aug. 26, 1939 in Carroll County, VA to Enoch Lester and Ida Blanch Kenny Williams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Lucile Russell and Mary Sue Grace Williams; brother, Roy Williams.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Smith; daughters & sons-in-law, Barbara & Ben Turman, Galax, VA, Brenda & David Benfield, Morganton, NC; brothers & sisters-in-law, Harbert & Beulah Williams, Amelia, VA, Ernest Williams & Brenda Anderson, Trinity, NC; sisters, May Cox, Mechanicsville, VA, Evelyn Williams, Thomasville, NC, Shirley Jones, Amelia, VA; grandchildren, Daniel & Haley Turman,
Julie & Chris Wingfield, Jonathan Benfield and one great-grandchild, Neveah Wingfield. Several nieces & nephews, also, survive

The funeral service Will be held at the Mt. Vale United
Methodist Church, Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Meadow Creek Union Baptist Church Cemetery. The body will lie-in-state one hour preceding the funeral service.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM
at the Mt. Vale United Methodist Church on Tuesday,
Feb. 21, 2017.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made
to The Mt. Vale United Methodist Women's Group, or the
Meadow Creek Union Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
