Lizzie Jane Newman

Lizzie Jane Newman known as Jane Newman age 96 of Fries, Virginia passed away Sunday, August 2, 2026 in the Waddell Nursing and Rehab Center.

Mrs. Newman was born in Cripple Creek, Virginia on March 4, 1930 to Calvin and Ollie Rosenbaum Wampler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Wilson Newman and son Matthew Paul Newman.

She loved the Lord and enjoyed going to church.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Samuel Mark and Cindy Newman of Wise, Virginia; daughter-in-law Beverly Newman of Bristol, Tennessee; sisters and brothers-in-law Paige Waller or Rocky Mount, Virginia; Hallie and Billy Chinault of Bristol, Virginia; Rebecca and Larry Thornton of Conway South Carolina; one granddaughter Heather Newman; one step-grandson Dennis McCracken; several nieces and nephews; special lifelong friend who went above and beyond the call Charles Bolling.

The funeral service will be held Friday at 1:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Pastor Mary Hessler officiating. Burial will follow in the Holston Conference Emory and Henry Cemetery in Emory, Virginia. The family will receive friends Friday from 12:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request donations be made to the Fries Methodist Church or the Fries Fire and Rescue Squad.
